Blancpain bestows Michelin Guide 2022 Mentor Chef Award in Hamburg

In its role as global watch partner of the Michelin Guide, Blancpain had the pleasure to support the Michelin Guide Star Revelation event in Germany. Held on March 9th, 2022, the ceremony took place in Hamburg at the Chamber of Commerce and was broadcasted online. It unveiled the year’s selection of best gastronomic tables in Germany and awarded special prizes such as the Mentor Chef Award. Experienced and committed chefs were acclaimed for their ability to pass on their knowledge to the younger generation of chefs and promising new talents.

On this occasion, Blancpain was delighted to honor the former two-star chef Johannes King with the 2022 Mentor Chef Award, in recognition of his dedication to passing on his own knowledge to the younger generations of chefs. During his 21 years working as chef de cuisine at the Söl’ringhof restaurant in Reitum on the island of Sylt, Johannes King became a mentor for many young talents – including Jan-Philipp Berner, who currently leads the kitchen of the Söl’ringhof.

By sharing his passion and experience, and devoting himself to the training of his staff, Johannes King secured the transmission of important skills and abilities to grow tomorrow’s greatest chefs. Wolfgang Theis, Brand Manager Blancpain Germany, presented the award with great enthusiasm, along with a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms wall clock to the winner.
