This function appears in a diamond-paved aperture at the heart of a blue aventurine glass dial marked by gold appliqué hour-markers, sword-shaped hands and a delicate star trotteuse hand. Meanwhile the Manufacture Piaget 584P self-winding movement and its black oscillating weight can be admired through the piece’s sapphire crystal case back. Aventurine glass, also known as goldstone, takes its name from the Italian word “avventura,” meaning adventure. Dating back to the 17th century, its manufacturing process was supposedly discovered in Murano, near Venice. It consists in adding copper oxide to the glass to give it its glittering appearance, mirroring a deep-blue and starry night sky.
